About Beau
Beau is a warm, thoughtful, and experienced psychologist. He brings genuine curiosity to the people he works with, and takes a patient, collaborative approach to therapy.
Beau believes meaningful change usually takes time, and that therapy works best when difficult things can be brought into the open without needing to be fixed straight away.
Mindfulness has been part of his own life since getting into meditation in his early twenties, and it's something he often brings into his work with clients.
Beau has clinical experience across the lifespan, from young children through to adults in later life. He has worked with children and young people with anxiety, behavioural challenges, and mood difficulties — including significant work with autistic and ADHD young people and their families through his role as a school psychologist — as well as adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, and complex mental health presentations, and parents and families looking to support a child's mental health.
Before retraining as a psychologist in Australia, Beau completed a PhD at the University of Auckland and a postdoctoral fellowship at Uppsala University in Sweden, with research focused on mood and trauma.
His therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT, including focused protocols for anxiety and depression), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Activation for low mood and depression, Mindfulness-based approaches, Cognitive and imagery-based interventions for intrusive trauma memories, Psychological assessment (cognitive, behavioural, and diagnostic), and Consultation and psycho-education for parents, teachers, and support networks.
