Couples counselling at Succoris Joondalup — currently no waitlist

Couples counselling is now available at Succoris Joondalup with Registered Psychologist Gabby Bridger — and there's currently no waitlist for a first couples appointment, in person or by telehealth.

Couples counselling is now available at Succoris Joondalup. Gabby Bridger, a Registered Psychologist at our Joondalup clinic, is taking new couples — and there is currently no waitlist for a first appointment.

That second part is worth saying out loud. In our experience, a long wait is often enough for couples to quietly shelve the idea of getting help at all. If the two of you are ready to start, you can book a first session now rather than joining a queue.

What Gabby works on with couples

Gabby works with couples on communication that keeps breaking down in the same predictable places, conflict that cycles without ever resolving, rebuilding trust after it has been damaged, and adjusting to change — new parenthood, a move, career pressure, or shifting roles at home. She also works with couples who are still deciding what they want the relationship to look like, rather than assuming that staying together is the goal.

She draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, and shapes sessions around the couple in front of her rather than working through a fixed programme. Gabby also sees individuals, teenagers, and older adults across anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity, workplace stress and burnout, and grief.

Fees, telehealth, and referrals

A couples session with Gabby is $250 for 50 minutes. Medicare rebates are tied to an individual's Mental Health Care Plan and don't extend to couples counselling, so a couples session is a flat private fee with nothing to claim back afterwards.

You don't need a GP referral to book couples counselling — you can book directly. If either of you is also considering individual therapy, it's still worth starting with your GP: a Mental Health Care Plan gives you access to Medicare-rebated individual sessions, and your GP can pick up anything else that would be better assessed properly.

Sessions run in person at our Joondalup clinic, or by telehealth anywhere in Australia — useful if one of you travels for work, or you're in different places during the week.
